Lorette May Julien, 83, Altonna, passed away at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home Wednesday, October 9, 2002.
She was born January 14, 1919, to Zaner and Lena Swartwood near Nora Springs, Iowa. Lorette was baptized and attended Sunday School and church in the Methodist Church in Nora Springs, Iowa. She completed eight years in Rock Grove Country School and three years at Nora Springs High School.
Lorette married George Willard Julien on February 16, 1937, and lived in the Nora Springs area until 1950, when they moved to their farm near Fairchild Wis. Lorette was a memer of the American Legion Auxiliary for 52 years. She was a Teachers Aide for three years in Fairchild and Osseo area schools. From 1975 to 1985, she worked as a caretaker for the elderly. Upon retirement, Lorette lived in Eau Claire, Wis.
Lorette is survived by three children, Larry (Connie) Julien of Chassel, Mich., Janice Pierce of Memomonie Wis., and Randolph (Jane) Julien of Fairchild, Wis., two brothers, Arlin (Dorothy) Swartwood of Janesville Wis., and Merton (Bertha) Swartwood of Mason City, Iowa; two sisters, Dorothea Roberts of Stevenson, Wash., and Glea (William) Scholten of Denver, Colo.; ten grandchildren, and eleven grandchildren.
Lorette was preceded in death by her husband George who passed away in 1969; a brother, Donald Swartwood who passed away in 1980; and a son-in-law, Stennett Pierce in 1999.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 13, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fairchild, with Pastor Bertels officiating. Interment will be in the town of Cleveland Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour before the services.
The family requests that memorials be sent to Fairchild American Legion Auxiliary.
