NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Lucy I. Jacobsen, 103, of Nora Springs, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at the Nora Springs Care Center.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Nora Springs, with the Rev. Ruth Hansen officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery in Nora Springs. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye St. in Nora Springs, and will continue one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.

Lucy Isabel Jacobsen was born Nov. 15, 1897, in Waterloo, the daughter of Jesse and Amelia (Adams) Harden. She married Nels Jacobsen on Dec. 29, 1915.

Lucy grew up in the Nora Springs area and attended Rock Grove School. She and her husband farmed until 1961, when they moved to Nora Springs.

Lucy enjoyed crocheting, making quilts, raising flowers, playing cards and traveling. She especially loved spending time with her family.

She was a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church and the Rebecca Lodge.

She is survived by one son, Harley Jacobsen and his wife Rosie, of Osage, one d aughter-in-law, Donna Jacobsen, of Nora Springs; one sister, Mae Quinby, of Port St. Joe, Florida; 21 grandchildren; 61 great grandchildren; 30 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Karen Vikturek; one son, Harold "Bud" Jacobsen; two great-grandsons, Devon Craig and Chris Field; a grandson, Gerald Vikturek; one brother, Roy Harden and one sister, Nora Richter.
