Nettie Lorene Vetter

Nettie Lorene Vetter, 81, a beloved wife, mother, and grandma passed away Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Nettie was called home by God after struggling with multiple health issues.

She was born Jan. 23, 1928, in New Hampton, one of six children to Dee Bolin and Mary (Hennings) Nelson. Coming from a large family brought such joy to her life. She graduated from Colwell High School in 1945. She met and fell in love with Harold John Vetter and married in Charles City, beginning 61 years of beautiful life together.

Nettie understood that making a difference in the lives of others in the journey of life is our reward. She was actively involved at St. Thomas Holy Spirit Lutheran Church and with her children’s activities. Her smile lit up a room and calmed life’s challenges. She was a great teacher of life’s lessons led by her great faith, love of her family and friends, caring nature, and can do attitude.

Nettie was loved and respected by many and left a lasting imprint on the lives of all that knew her.

Dear wife of departed Harold; loving mother of Paul (Linda) Vetter, Susan (Todd) Gerlach, Harold John (Alice) Vetter II, and the late Kenneth Vetter; grandma of six, great-grandma of five: and sister of Glen Nelson, Betty Watkins, Delorus Fike and the late Emma Nelson and Barbara Tynan.

Services and interment will be held in Texas on Saturday, October 17, 2009.
