Duane Ford, 75, of Marshalltown, formerly of Nora Springs , died Friday, September 18, 2009, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.

Funeral services for Duane Ford will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor Jim Turner of the Nora Springs United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens. There will be a flag presentation by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Visitation will continue Thursday at the funeral home an hour prior to the service.

Duane Harold Ford was born February 25, 1934, at Charles City, the son of Harold and Berdie (Heath) Ford. He graduated from the Charles City High School. Duane proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. On May 29, 1954, he was united in marriage to Ester Shanks. Duane was a self employed painter that took great pride in his work and enjoyed making new acquaintances. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Nora Springs. His interests included hunting, fishing, camping, raising hunting dogs, dancing, singing and playing trumpet.

Living family members include three children, Darla (Terry) Drewelow of Parkersburg, Dana (Kayla) Ford of Gilbert, Ariz. and Deana (Dale) VerHelst of Creston; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife on April 15, 1997; a granddaughter, Becky Drewelow; four half sisters; and a half brother.
