STRUCK BY LIGHTNING. During the violent thunder storm which visited this section on Saturday last.

The dwelling house of Mr. Cunningham about one mile this side of Floyd was struck by lightning killing Mr. Cunningham and his wife who had retired to bed. The fluid struck the chimney passed down part way to the floor then passed to the bed on which they were lying. A little boy was in the chamber but was paralyzed so that he was unable to give the alarm and the dead bodies of the man and wife were found in the bed about 11 o'clock A. M. of Sunday. Mr. Cunningham lay upon his back with both eyes open, probably in the exact position that he lay when struck. Mrs. Cunningham was laying on her side, the fluid passed through a partition and the plastering was thrown over their bodies.

Mr. Cunningham was a young man about 23 years of age and had been married only about a year at the time of this terrible disposition of divine Providence which called hence without warning two fellow mortals.
