NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Iris E. Brierly, 87, of 15 Fourth S.W., Nora Springs, died Saturday, September 12, 2009, at the Nora Springs Care Center.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, Nora Springs, with the Rev. Ed Bard chaplin of Hospice of North Iowa officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Rudd.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday from at Sheckler Colonial Chapel. Family suggests memorials to Hospice of North Iowa.

Iris was born May 24, 1922 in Alma, Wisconsin, the daughter of Fred and Edith (Hoover) Brown. Iris married Delbert Brierly on May 4, 1942. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, painting, cross-stitching and her family.

She was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Nora Springs American Legion Auxiliary.

Iris is survived by her husband, Delbert Brierly, Nora Springs; two children, Marvin Brierly and his wife, Kathie, Mason City, and Connie Schuver and her husband, Bruce, West Lafayette, Ind.; five grandchildren, Jason Brierly, Rapid City, S.D., Jim Schuver and his wife, Christine, Irmo, S.C., Wendy Simpson and her husband, Travis, Victor, Nathan Brierly, Mason City, and Angie Murley and her husband Bob, Sac City, and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; eight sisters and a son, Gary.
