BORN IN FLOYD COUNTY

Dennis C. Vician, 63, formerly of Mason City, Iowa, passed away Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at his home in Emmetsburg, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. His body was donated as per his wishes to help others in need.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, at Joyce's Funeral Home, Emmetsburg.

Dennis was born Jan 14, 1946, in Charles City, Floyd County, Iowa. His parents are William and Belva Vician of Mason City. He married Patricia Mosiman on April 6, 1968, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City.

Dennis graduated from Mason City High School in '65 and went on to UNI, graduating with a degree in human services. For the past 21 years he has been the administrator at Kathleen's Care Inc. in Emmetsburg.

Dennis was active in Bethany Lutheran Church, was treasurer for the Emmetsburg Boy Scouts, treasurer of the Kiwanis, and a member of Moose Lodge 1328 in Mason City.

He enjoyed following E-Hawks football and baseball and making friendly wagers with all his friends. He was extremely devoted to his family and enriched the lives of everyone he knew. His strength and determination through incredible life challenges inspires his family and friends every day.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 41 years, Patricia Mosiman Vician; his son and daughter-in-law, David James and April and a grandson to arrive in November 2009, of Fullerton Calif.; his parents, William and Belva Vician of Mason City; sisters Bonnie of Mason City, Jacqueline (Terry) Soli of Fort Madison and Wanda (Mark) Tritch, Crete, Neb.; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Merlin) Brockhoff of Arlington Minn., Geneva (Marvin) Kittner of Mason City; very special friends Chuck and Linda Hackleman of Mason City; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and a countless number of friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Marion Wible, Steve and Blanche Vician; his in-laws Art and Dorothy Mosiman; brothers-in-law, Richard, David and Robert Mosiman.
