CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Donna M. Hitzhusen, 97, of Charles City died Thursday morning (Sept. 10, 2009) at Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Funeral services for Donna Hitzhusen will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City with Pastor Debra Lincoln of Jordan River and Colwell U.C.C. officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main in Charles City. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the service Monday at the church.

Donna Marie Chuick was born July 1, 1912, at Mason City, the daughter of Milan and Amelia (Knezovich) Chuick. She graduated from the Mason City High School and later attended Hamilton Business School for one year.

On June 13, 1941, she was united in marriage to John Hitzhusen. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Church Circle and Floyd County Medical Center Auxiliary.

Her interests included golf, playing bridge and spending time with her grandchildren.

Living family members include her two children, Linda (Doug) Groesbeck, of Charles City and Bill (Vicki) Hitzhusen, of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Emily (Jeff) Griswold, Dan Groesbeck, Kate Hitzhusen and Lauren Hitzhusen: one great-grandson, Ethyn Groesbeck; two sisters, Mary (Larry) Turner, of Orlando, Fla., and Sophie Smith of Charles City; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Milli Chorak; two brothers, Dan Chuick and Nick Chuick.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Trinity United Methodist Church or the Floyd County Medical Center Auxiliary.
