CHARLES CITY, IOWA -- Betty J. Herman, 80, of Charles City, died Sunday morning, June 14, 2009, at her home in Charles City.
Funeral services for Betty Herman will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Betty's grandson, Amos Long Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.
Betty Jane Stillions Herman was born March 17, 1929, at Charles City, the daughter of Dewey and Dora Stillions. She attended the Charles City schools. On December 20, 1947, she was united in marriage to Orvall Herman at Austin, Minn. Her interests included working, word puzzles, collecting dolls and spending time with her family.
Living family members include her 11 children, George (Darlene) Herman of Charles City, Gloria Foster of Floyd, Vila Mae (Lance) Kellogg of Camdenton, Mo., Katie Nash of Clear Lake, Carolyn (Francis) Lantz of Charles City, Orvall "Tike" (Cheryl) Herman of Ionia, Bob (Annett) Herman of New Hampton, Cindy (Franny) Marvin of Britt, Brian (Rhonda) Herman of Charles City, Susan (Rod) Stewart of Charles City and John (Kari) Herman of Charles City; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a brother, Admiral (Florene) Stillions of Stockton, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Kenneth Herman; and a daughter, Bonnie Miller; sister, Doris Wall; and two brothers, Dewey Stillions and Lyle Stillions.
