CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Duane R. Maxwell, age 72, of 707 Sixth Ave., died on Tuesday, March 4, 1997, at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Karen Rask Behling officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, with graveside military honors conducted by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., and from 9 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church.

Duane Robert Maxwell was born on December 13, 1924, in rural Floyd County on the Burr Farm near Niles Corners.

Survivors include his wife, Ona, of Charles City; one daughter, Doreen Rich, Charles City; two sons, Michael Maxwell, Knoxville, Tenn., and David Maxwell, Toms River, N.J.; his mother, Margaret Maxwell, Charles City; one brother, Robert L. Maxwell, St. Cloud, Florida; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.
