Funeral services for Dee Jay Hillman, 67, of 404 Riverside Dr., Mason City, Iowa, and formerly of Marble Rock, Iowa, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at the United Methodist Church, Marble Rock with Pastor Ashok Patet and Pastor Ed Bart officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Marble Rock, Floyd county, Iowa.

Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 p.m Monday, March 3, 2008 at Reid’s Funeral Chapel, 423 Bradford St., Marble Rock. Visitation will continue Tuesday at the church one hour prior to services.

Dee Jay was born May 29, 1940, a son of Darrel and Reka (Arends) Hillman and died February 28, 2008 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. He attended public school and graduated from RRMR in 1959. He was united in marriage to Ruth Johnson on June 30, 1959, and to this union were blessed two children Debra and James.

D.J. was a semi owner/operator for over 40 years. He was town cop for Marble Rock and also owned the Shine Way Window Washing business in Mason City. His wife Ruth passed away in 1990. On July 3, 1993 D.J was united in marriage to Kathlene (Dodge) Sauve by the covered bridge in Wilkinson Park in Rock Falls. He retired from truck driving in 2006 due to multiple health problems.

He enjoyed having family and friends over for Sunday dinners and especially making and serving his homemade ice cream. He also enjoyed working with James at the farm next door for Chuck Boyd.

D.J. is survived by his wife Kathlene of Rock Falls; his son, James Hillman of Marble Rock; three step sons: Curt (Mardi) Sauve, Kent Sauve, all of Mason City, Kendall Sauve; one step-daughter Kaylene (Chris ) Ahrens of Rock Falls; one sister Linda (Nolan “Red”) Taylor of Milton, FL; sister-in-law: Carma Hillman of Marble Rock, Marjorie (Everett) Showalter, of Osage, Kathryn (John) Deets of Mason City, Bonnie Gail Corkery of Neosho, MO; brothers-in-law: Alvin (Susan) Klink of Marble Rock, David (Linda) Johnson of Blue Springs, MO, Dick (Barb) Dodge of Rock Falls, Bill (Bonnie) Dodge of Nora Springs, Jim (Delores) Dodge of Mason City; one granddaughter, Natalie Hillman (Septer) of Mason City, four step granddaughters: Ashley (Zach) Davis, Brigitte Sauve, Mikayla Ahrens, and Paige Sauve; two step grandsons, Matt Sauve and Tegan Ahrens; one great-grandson, Ezrehn Degen-Septer; two step-great grandsons Jacob and Ethan Davis; Nieces and nephews: Stephanie (Alan) Lowery, Tony Nash, Holly (Bob) Schindler, Heidi (Matt) Rooney, Dana (Callie) Hillman, Darci Hillman (Fiance`e Jake Mallo),Mike (Vivian) Klink, Chelley (Adam) Parks, Leroy (Crystal)Klink, Rhonda (Jeremy) Stephens, Naomi (Billy) Hagler, Mandy Johnson, Kylee (Luke) Stewart, Isaac Johnson, numerous nieces, nephews, friends and granddog, “Scobby”.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Ruth in 1990, his daughter Deb Grarup in 1994, his sister, Nancy Klink in 1976, his brother, Danny in 1992, his parents, his father and mother-in-law, Lester and Marie Johnson, his mother-in-law, Grace Dodge and two brothers-in-law, S.Lee Nash and Jerry Lee Dodge.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Dee Jay Hillman Memorial Fund in care of Kathlene Hillman, 404 Riverside Dr., Mason City, IA 50401.
