A Celebration of Life Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rochester, NY will be held in May 2009 in memory of June Marie Edwards, 78, of 510 N. First St., Greene, Iowa formerly of Rochester New York. Cremation has already taken place.
June Marie Cummings was born in Rochester, New York on May 28, 1930, one of six daughters to Francis T. And Margaret M. (Maier) Cummings and died Sunday, December 21, 2008 at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City, Iowa.
She received her education in the Holy Rosary Catholic School in Rochester and graduated the class of 1944. She attended John Marshall High School also of Rochester later moving to Toledo, Ohio where she attended Scott High School. She was Baptized on June 29, 1930, at the Church of Holy Family in Rochester and Confirmed on May 21, 1940.
On May 3, 1952 she was united in marriage to Charles L. Edwards. To this union were born three sons. June did secretarial, data entry and retail work for different business over the years retiring from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rochester. June was an avid reader who enjoyed needlework, crafts, Celtic Music and most of all traveling.
June was an Air Force Wife for twenty years which fostered her love for moving from place to place. She has visited all the 50 states, touched the waters of the Atlantic and Pacific, and the Gulf of Mexico. She spent her winters in Rockport, Texas. June was a lovely, kind hearted individual that will be greatly missed.
June is survived by two sons: Charles F. Edwards of Colorado Springs, CO. , Mark (Sandi) Edwards of Peoria, IL, two grandsons: Mike and Mark Edwards both of Greene, Iowa; one daughter in law Jan Edwards of Greene, Iowa; five sisters: Margie L. (Kenneth) Herkimer of Webster, NY, Genevieve T. (Thomas) Brady of Hilton, NY, Agnes Werle, of Hilton, NY, Alice Payne of Kingsport, TN, and Elizabeth (Donald) Held of Greece, NY.; many nieces and nephews and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Chuck, son Mike, her parents, and one brother-in-law.
