RUDD, IOWA - Lloyd Marth, 74, of 1081 Foothill Ave., Rudd, died Tuesday (Jan. 14, 1997) at the Nora Springs Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Rudd United Methodist Church with the Rev. Deborah Stowers officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Lloyd Marth was born on August 14, 1922, at Ulster Township, rural Rockford, the son of Henry and Anna (Adolphs) Marth. He attended school in Rockford and graduated from Rockford High School in 1941. Lloyd served in the United States Air Force from 1942 to 1946.
He was married to Velda M. Andresen on Sept. 10, 1948, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. Lloyd enjoyed his career in farming. He also liked sports, especially football, and traveling.
He was a member of the Rudd United Methodist Church and the Rudd American Legion Post.
Survivors include one son, Mike Marth and his wife, Leah, of Rudd; one daughter, Dianne Truex and her husband, Rick, of Clear Lake; seven grandchildren, Hillary, Emily, Erin and Katie Marth, and Brian, Amanda and Nicholas Truex; one great-granddaughter, Tessa Truex; three brothers, Lester Marth of Mason City, Harold Marth of Rockford, and Richard Marth of Marion; two sisters, Luella Brandau of Rudd, and Janet Rawley of Iowa City; a sister-in-law, Donna Campbell of Story City; and brother-in-law, Paul Andresen of Gulf Port, Miss.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Velda; one brother, Melvin; and two sisters, Dorothy and Ruth.
