Clara F. Fischer

MASON CITY, IOWA - Clara F. Fischer, 81, 1317 N. Quincy Ave., died Wednesday (January 8, 1997) at the Willow Creek Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Grace United Methodist Church, 200 14th St. N.W., with the Rev. Herbert Shafer officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Memorials may be given to the Clara F. Fischer Memorial Fund.

Clara was born Feb. 27, 1915, at Mitchell, Iowa, daughter of Lee B. and Iva Belle (Bartell) Phillips. She grew up in the Mitchell and Osage areas and attended schools there also.

She was married to Melvin F. Fischer on August 18, 1932, at Osage, Iowa. She lived in Charles City for 25 years, then moved to Stoddard, Wis., for six or seven years, then lived in LaCrosse, Wis., for many years. She moved to Mason City in 1991.

She enjoyed traveling, doing crafts and reconstructing fur coats. She was active in her church wherever she lived. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Mason City, and a member of the Degree of Honor. She enjoyed going to the Mason City Senior Citizens Center.

She is survived by daughters, Audrey Warren and her husband, Kenneth, Mason City, Shirley Allison and her husband, Max, Appleton, Wis., and Elizabeth Sandy and her husband, Bob, Kenosha, Wis.; son-in-law, Delbert Cross, Floyd; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Estelle Fischer, Charles City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Olga Cross; one sister; and three brothers.
