NORA SPRINGS, IOWA — Evelyn J. Spivey, 80, a resident of the Nora Springs Care Center for the past five and one half years in Nora Springs, and formerly of 27 Fourth St. SW in Rockford, died Friday evening, (Sept. 16, 2005) at the Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs.

In respect of Evelyn’s wishes, cremation has taken place with Cremation Services of North Iowa in Mason City. Private inurnment will be held at the Riverside Cemetery in Rockford, Iowa.

Those wishing to extend memorials or expressions of sympathy may direct them to the Evelyn J. Spivey Memorial Fund.

Evelyn Jean Spivey was born to Thomas H. and Clara E. (Gibbs) Willsher on Oct. 17, 1924, in Mason City.

Evelyn grew up in and attended school in Rockford, graduating from Rockford High School, Class of 1941.

Evelyn was united in marriage to Clifford N. Spivey in Greene.

Evelyn has been a life-long resident of the Rockford area. Evelyn was employed with the U.S. Postal Service in Rockford as a clerk for several years.

Evelyn’s interests and leisure activities included collecting antique clocks and lamps, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, drinking coffee and the companionship of her cocker spaniel dog, named “Buster.”

Evelyn will be dearly missed by all who have shared in her life.

Grateful for having had the privilege of sharing in Evelyn’s life are her daughter, Patricia E. “Pat” Hesseltine of Spirit Lake; two grandchildren, Scott Santee of Rockford and Stacey Rosenberg of St. Ansgar; three great-grandchildren, Chandler Santee, Remy Rosenberg and Raina Rosenberg; one sister, Gladys Leider of Rockford. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Evelyn in death are her parents; her husband, Clifford N. Spivey on March 16, 1976; six brothers; a sister in infancy and a great granddaughter, Bree Rosenberg.
