CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Helen M. Klemesrud, 79, of 910 13th St., in Charles City died early Monday morning (June 6, 2005) at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 S. Main St. in Charles City with the Rev. David Werges officiating. Interment will be at Rock Creek Cemetery in Osage.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St. in Charles City. The visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.

Helen Maxine Klemesrud was born Dec. 20, 1925, in Bassett, Nebraska She was one of four children born to Rudolph and Lillie (Chambers) Hansen. Helen lived her formative years in Bassett, Nebraska where she attended school.

On April 11, 1942, Helen was united in marriage to James Reginald Klemesrud** in Nora Springs. Helen had lived in Charles City for most of her married life. She was employed as an assistant to Dr. Pelz and Dr. Schmidel in Charles City throughout her working life.

She was active in life, her interest and favorite passion included quilting in her home and also with the Congregational Church in Charles City. Helen's greatest priority was caring for her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Some of her favorite leisure activities included driving and checking out all of the different scenery, visiting with people, spending time with her dog "Shelly." Helen also was an avid reader.

Helen will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Grateful for having had the privilege of sharing in Helen's life are her five children, Kathleen (William) Jacobs of Charles City; Gregory (Myrna) Klemesrud of Mason City; James H. (Joyce) Klemesrud of New Richmond, Wis.; Normand (Linda) Klemesrud of Charles City, and William (Sharlet) Klemesrud of Floyd; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James R. Klemesrud* on Oct. 15, 1988; a great-grandson; one sister, Yvonne Lacoste; and two brothers, Donald and Henry Hansen.
