June B. Gist, age 89, of Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, died Wednesday, February 25, 2009, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Reverend Carl Ries will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.

June Boneta Wiltse Gist was born July 19, 1919, at Charles City, the only child of Herbert Dorwin and Minnie (Stewart) Wiltse. She graduated from the Charles City High School in 1937. From 1937 to 1940 she worked for an insurance agency and from 1940 to 1952 she was employed by the Oliver Corporation.

On October 11, 1952, she was united in marriage to William W. Gist, an Engineer with the Oliver Corporation. The two of them moved to Battle Creek, Mich. where they both continued to work for Oliver until 1955 when the contract with Boeing Airplane Company ended and they moved to the Twin Cities.

Bill died on September 13, 1971, and June remained in the Twin Cities until 1988. She attended the University of Minnesota, worked 10 years (until the company was moved to Chicago) as Secretary to the President and chairman of the Board of Rap-In-Wax Paper Company and spent her last 22 plus years as Executive Vice President and President of two well known Twin City firms. June returned to Charles City on November 17, 1988. She has served as a Hospice volunteer, a member of the school board, on the Superintendent’s Advisory Board, the Excellence in Education Foundation and the Community Revitalization Committee. She also served as a Teen Center volunteer. She was a member of the Moose Lodge, 19th Amendment Society, Charles City Arts Council, Senior Center, Historical Society and St. Anthony’s Circle.

June has no living relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
