MARBLE ROCK, IOWA — Funeral services for Lori Jean Christensen, 41, of 1446 280th St., Marble Rock, will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Marble Rock with Pastor Kenneth Kent officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Marble Rock.

Lori Jean Hinrichsen was born Jan. 8, 1964, at the Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City, a daughter of Mervin Lloyd and Alma Jean (Smith) Hinrichsen, and died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at the Salsbury Baptist Home in Charles City.

She received her education at the Rudd/Rockford and Marble Rock Public Schools graduating in 1982. During high school, she sang in the choir and later in life developed a love for country music. Three of her favorite artists were George Strait, Steve Warner and Reba. Other interests included reading paperback novels, writing poetry and collecting dolls by Precious Moments.

She was confirmed as a member of the United Methodist Church in Marble Rock with special credit being given to Francis Swant, a member, who greatly impacted Lori's life. In the late 1980s, Lori started to develop a devastating illness known as Progressive Familial Atazia Demensia Syndrome.

Lori was united in marriage to Russell Christensen in June 1990 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Greene. Their union was blessed with the birth of one daughter. Lori's condition began to deteriorate and eventually left her unable to care for herself. She was admitted to the Salsbury Baptist Home, where she remained until her death. During her stay, a faithful friend, Fran Schmitt, took the time to brighten Lori's life by writing weekly letters of encouragement.

Lori will be sadly missed by her daughter, Rachel, and her father, Russell Christensen, both of Lake City; her parents, Mervin and Alma Jean (Smith) Hinrichsen of Marble Rock; her sister, Judy (Larry) Staudt of Marble Rock, and Dennis Hinrichsen of Mason City. She is also survived by four aunts, Opal Ackley of Marble Rock, Shirley Herman of Greene, Lyla Truex of Mason City and Norma (Gene) Ewald of Marble Rock, and many cousins.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Lori Jean Christensen Memorial Fund in care of the family, 2391 Jersey Ave., Marble Rock, Iowa, 50653.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid's Funeral Chapel, Greene, (641) 823-4457.
