NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Louise K. Wendt, 94, of 907 W. Congress St., Nora Springs, died Thursday (Feb. 19, 2009) at the Nora Springs Care Center.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 101 N. Hawkeye Ave., Nora Springs, with the Rev. Dr. Jennifer Edinger officiating. Inurnment will be held at Park Cemetery, Nora Springs. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. Luke Lutheran Church, Nora Springs.

Arrangements are by Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 641-749-2210 -- www.colonialchapels.com .

Louise was born Aug. 12, 1914, in Mason City, the daughter of Ollie and Louisa (Roberts) Morphew. She graduated from Rudd High School in 1932 and then attended Hamilton Business College in Mason City for one year.

On June 2, 1934, she married John Wendt Jr. in Nora Springs and two sons were born to this union. Louise was a homemaker who took care of her children, and a farmwife, helping on the family farm driving tractor and truck.

In her spare time, Louise enjoyed gardening, and playing cards and was active in the RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program). She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church and the Friendly Circle. She also participated in the Nora Springs Garden Club and the Nora Springs Senior Citizens.

She is survived by her son, Fred (Jackie) Wendt, of Nora Springs; her grandchildren, Scott (Brenda) Wendt of Indianola, Stephanie (Tim) Jennings of Hanlontown, Lee Ann (Tim) Stoltenberg of Manly, Tyler Ewing of Rockford and Alison Ewing of Mill Valley, Calif.; eight great-grandchildren; and her niece, Jody Currie of Des Moines.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; her son, Jimmy; and her sister Janet.
