NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Tom Dudding, age 57, of 504 E. Congress, Nora Springs, died suddenly Friday (Feb. 6, 2009) at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church, 202 N. Hawkeye Ave., Nora Springs, with Pastor Wendy Johannesen officiating. Inurnment will be at Park Cemetery, Nora Springs, Floyd county, Iowa.

Visitation with viewing will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye Ave., Nora Springs. Following the visitation, he will be cremated. Family suggests memorials to the Thomas Dudding Memorial Fund.

Thomas A. Dudding was born on November 11, 1951, in Estherville, the son of Al and Norma (Olthoff) Dudding. He later moved to a farm outside Buffalo Center, and attended schools there, graduating in 1970. While in high school he was active in FFA, winning numerous gold awards in ag mechanics, crops, meat judging and public and extemporaneous speaking at the state level and achieving the State Farmer Degree. He held district officer positions and also sang in the FFA Choir. He was second team all conference in football.

After graduating from Iowa State University 1974 with a degree in Agricultural Education, he taught at Glidden-Ralston and St. Ansgar and in 1985 he went to work for Agriliance. Currently he was working for NAU Country Insurance as a crop adjuster, a job he loved. As a hobby he did woodworking and carpentry. Much of the furniture in the home was constructed by Tom in "the shed" and he also constructed an addition to their home. Many several beautiful pieces of furniture were made by him for friends and family.

On September 9, 1972, he married Mary McGoff in Owatonna, Minnesota. They were married 36 years this past September.

Tom is survived by his wife, Mary; his three children, son, Christopher (Maria) and their son, Jack, of Brussels, Belgium; son, Allan (Nicole), of Sacramento, Calif., and daughter, Laura (Eric) Engels, of Altoona. Also surviving are brothers and sisters, Patricia (Gary) Pond, of Watertown, S.D., Michael (Kathy) Dudding, of Denison, Jay Dudding, of Bloomington, Minn., Steven (Susan) Dudding, of Morris, Minn., Barbara (Michael) Stephens, of Fort Calhoun, Neb., and Sandra (Steve) Boerboom, of Cottonwood, Minn. He is also survived by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and scores of friends. He will be sadly missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John; and sister, Carol; and an infant brother and sister.
