CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Anne Exline, of Charles City, passed away early Saturday morning (June 21, 2003). She was a young 71 years old.

Anne will be dearly missed by her husband, Ed; their sons, Steve (Anita) and Mike (special friend, Bernice); her six grandchildren, Michelle (Maziar), Ben (Kristi), Susan, Zach, Heidi, and Kristina; and three and a half great-grandchildren, Jonah, Madeline, Isaac and one great-grandchild due in September; her mother-in-law, Mabel Indahl Exline; and her aunt and dearest friend, Mary Lou Palmros; sister-in-laws, Norma Finley, Donna Sievert and Darlene Exline; friends, Skip and Myrna Ward and Kay Beguhn will also sorely miss her.

Anne was born and raised in Ft. Worth, Texas, before moving to the Charles City area as a teenager.

She married her high school sweetheart and Floyd native, Ed, on Oct. 23, 1948, and they were married for 54 amazing years.

Throughout the years Anne and Ed farmed north of Charles City and raised their two sons to become wrestling champs and college graduates.

Anne loved having fun and experiencing life to its fullest. Friends and family were always being swept up in her good cheer. Anne was a proud woman, she inspired us all with her ability to bounce back and “get after it.” Her zest for life was contagious, making the entire room light up in her presence.

Anne and Ed traveled together enjoying long cross-country trips to see family and friends. She also took many opportunities to visit countries around the world with her friends and grandchildren. She enjoyed long walks, playing bridge, going to the YMCA, golfing with her grandchildren and doing fun, girly things with her granddaughters.

Anne will be remembered for these qualities and for her warm and generous heart. We will miss her very much, but know that her memory will never be lost, living on through her husband, sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Melissa and John Haase; daughter-in-law, Mary Exline and brother-in-law, Jim Exline.

A memorial service for Anne will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Charles City.
