George "Victor" Bell, 94, a resident of 2080 Asherton Avenue, Ionia, Iowa, died Sunday, December 14, 2003, at the Salsbury Baptist Home in Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa.

Funeral services for Victor Bell will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Rev. Dennis Niezwaag, pastor at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Carroll Cemetery, Bassett.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and an hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

George "Victor" Bell was born June 28, 1909, at Bassett, the son of George and Martha (Arnold) Bell. He received his education at Bassett. On September 21, 1940, he was united in marriage to Eva VanDeMaat at Charles City. Victor farmed all of his life on the farm on which he was born. While he appreciated all aspects of farming Victor's love of vegetable gardening will always be remembered.

Living family members include a son, Robert (Julie) Bell of Brookings, S.D.; two grandchildren, Tamara Smithee, and Lauri Bailey; and four great grandchildren, Adrian and Isaac Smithee, and Nathan and Marissa Bailey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife in 1994, and four sisters, Della Freebury, Edith Meyer, Inice Huffman, and Winnie Smith.
