Jerry Lee Stufflebeam was born Feb. 27, 1939, in Waverly, to Darwin E. and Ruth L. (Hart) Stufflebeam. He was the middle child of three children born to his parents.

Jerry attended, excelled academically and graduated from Rockford Community High School in 1957.

Many years later, Jerry furthered his education at North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City. In 1983, he earned a degree in agri-business and graduated with a 4.0 grade point average.

Jerry took great pride in providing for his family. He was a lifelong resident of Floyd County, a member of the First United Methodist Church and well-known by many.

Jerry was employed at Brick and Tile in Rockford, Bantam Shields in Waverly and, more recently, at White Farm in Charles City, from which he retired in 1980.

Some of Jerry’s favorite leisure activities and interests included vegetable and flower gardening, woodworking and collecting old toy tractors. He especially favored his John Deere replicas.

All who knew Jerry, were familiar with his love of the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting any type of wild game, trapping and fishing, especially along the Shellrock River in Rockford, bird watching, and tending to his honey bees. Many neighbors, friends and family members savored the honey reaped from his hobby.
