Belva L. Green, 95, of 302 9th St., Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City, died Sunday morning, November 2, 2003, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, Charles City, with Rev. Ruth Yeaton officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Thursday, 401 Blunt St. in Charles City. Those planning memorials or an expression of sympathy may direct them to the family in C/O of her son, Gayle Green, 611 Freeman St., Charles City, IA, 50616.

Belva LaFerne Green was born April 18, 1908, in Charles City, the daughter of Sam and Nettie (Wiltse) Monroe. She was one of 11 children. Belva grew up in and attended school in Charles City. She was employed as a housekeeper at the Salsbury Baptist Home in Charles City. Belva will be best remembered for being a kind, nurturing mother and grandmother and helping other people throughout the community in which she lived. Belva's interest and leisure activities included cooking, dancing and a great appreciation for music.

Those grateful for having had the privilege of sharing in Belva's life include her children, Dawn Volbrecht and her husband Charles; Bonnie Henry; all of Wichita, Kan.; Dixie Meek of Gilbert, Iowa, and Gayle Green of Charles City; 14 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and she will sadly missed and fondly remembered by other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford in 1963; son, Loyal Green; two grandsons, Brad Volbrecht and Greg Green and ten sisters and brothers.
