EXCELSIOR, MINNESOTA - Charles A. Ball, age 37, of Excelsior, Minn., died Tuesday, October 21, 2003, as a result of injuries he sustained in an automobile accident in Chanhassen, Minn.

Charles "Chuck" Andrew Ball was born on July 2, 1966, to Norman and Geraldine (Ferch) Ball in Charles City. Chuck married Diana Mancino in Minneapolis, Minn. on June 1, 1997. They later divorced.

Chuck was a talented and gifted chef who took great pride in preparing a meal and then enjoying it with friends and family. Chuck had a great enthusiasm for life and especially treasured the gift of being a loving and attentive father to his two sons, Gabriel and Julian. Chuck woke up with a smile on his face and possessed an attitude that things were good in life.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, October 24, 2003, at 2 p.m. at the Johnson-Peterson Funeral Home, St. Paul, Minn., with his cousin, the Rev. Brian Shepley, officiating.

Chuck was a beloved father, son and grandson and is survived by his mother, Geraldine Ferch, Cedar Rapids; and his father, Norman Ball, Muscatine. Also surviving are his two sons, Gabriel and Julian, both of St. Paul, Minn.; his former wife, Diana Mancino, St. Paul, Minn.; his brother, Bruce Ball (Janet), Iowa City; one nephew, Andrew Ball, Iowa City; his grandmothers, Irene Ferch, Charles City and Ruth Ball, Duncombe; and an aunt, Carol (Mrs. Stephen) Kuhn, Indianola, Iowa; and an uncle, Tim Ferch (Barrie), Duluth, Minn.

Chuck was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Gerald Ferch and Leonard Ball. Also killed in the accident that claimed Chuck's life was his special friend, Lynn Marie Hines, Excelsior, Minn.

Memorials may be made to a special fund set up for Chuck's sons, Gabriel and Julian. May he rest in peace.
