Terence "Terry" Tobin, 72, a resident of 102 15th Avenue, Charles City, Iowa, died Monday, October 27, 2003, at his residence.

A funeral Mass for Terry Tobin will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. The Rev. Carl Ries, pastor, will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday where the Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. and the Vigil Scriptural Wake Service will be at 7 p.m. followed by the Rosary being recited by the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will continue at the church an hour prior to the Mass.

Terence Thomas Tobin was born July 21, 1931, at Charles City, the son of Chester and Gertrude (Short) Tobin. He received his education at the Immaculate Conception School. Terry served in the United States Army from 1949 to 1952 and received the Medal of Honor and Bronze Star with cluster.

On June 15, 1953, he was united in marriage to Virginia Sovereign at the Holy Name Catholic Church at Rockford. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus in which he held the third degree, Floyd County Archery Club where he had served as president, American Legion, and was a life long member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Terry's interests included bow hunting, fishing, playing cards and pool, cooking, gardening, riding bicycle, and mushroom hunting. He also looked forward to having coffee with his friends each morning. Terry's family was special to him and he looked forward to spending time with them.

Living family members include his wife, Virginia of Charles City; four children, Thomas (Andrea) Tobin of Knoxville, Joseph (Wanda) Tobin and Patrick (Ruth) Tobin both of Houston, Texas, and David (Lynn) Tobin of Prairie Du Chien, Wisc.; seven grandchildren, Jessica Jackson, Adam Tobin, Heather Tobin, Michele Nielsen, Amy Tobin, Angie Tobin, and Debora Tobin; two step grandchildren, Lee and Jennifer Woodworth; three great grandchildren; three brothers, Dick (Shirley) Tobin and Charles (JoAnn) Tobin both of Floyd, and Larry (Jean) Tobin of Bertha, Minn.; and two sisters, Sharon (Jim) Weigel of Charles City, and Cathie (Eldon) Randall of Marble Rock.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Mary Ann Tobin in 1958, a grandson, Daniel Lee Tobin in 1996, and two brothers, James and Roger Tobin.
