Robert Lockhart, 90, a resident of 701 7th Avenue, Charles City, Iowa, died Monday, September 1, 2003, at the Salsbury Baptist Home in Charles City.

Memorial services for Robert Lockhart will be held at a later date. Per Robert's request his body was donated to the Mayo Clinic.

The Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Andrew Lockhart was born May 5, 1913, at Granite Falls, Minn., the son of Louis and Dorothy (Hurst) Lockhart. He graduated from the Charles City High School. On October 15, 1938, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Merrick at her parent's home in Dougherty. Bob was employed at Oliver/White Farm Equipment Company for 39 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, St. Charles Masonic Lodge #141, Charles City Chamber of Commerce, and was past president of the White Motor Management Club. Bob was an outdoorsman as seen in his interest in fishing, hiking, and gardening. He also had special interest in the Floyd County Museum and was a great supporter for Charles City.

Living family members include his wife, Marjorie of Charles City; three daughters, Sharon (Robert) Schmiedel of Cedar Rapids, Lynne (Scott) Gabel of Port Aransas, Texas, and Susan (James) Greathouse of Kissimmee, Fla.; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Joyce Horn of Charles City, and Margery Olson of Rapid City, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Carol Jean, a grandson, Joseph Schmiedel, and two brothers, Kenneth and Gene Lockhart.

The family suggests memorials be directed to the Charles City Arts Center.
