NEW HAMPTON, IOWA -- Marjorie A. Freese, 68, of New Hampton, formerly of Ionia, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2003 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton of natural causes.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2003 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in New Hampton with visitation to start an hour prior to the service. Burial will in Riverside Cemetery in Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa.

Marjorie Ann Freese was born Dec. 27, 1934 in New Hampton, the daughter of Oscar and Stella (Ross) Randall. She attended country school near her family's home before moving with her family to New Hampton, where she finished her schooling at the New Hampton Public School. After her schooling, Marjorie moved to Oregon to help her sister, Arlene, raise her family. She later returned to New Hampton.

On Nov. 17, 1955, she was united in marriage to Paul Freese at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton. Following their marriage the couple resided near the intersection of Highway 63 and 3 and she worked at the Camfield Cafe on the corner. The couple later moved to Washburn for a short time before moving to a farm one-and-a-half miles south of Ionia where she resided until moving to New Hampton in 1994.

Marjorie will always be remembered for her willingness to volunteer by driving senior citizens to doctors appointments, getting groceries and many other things. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, making afghans, going out to eat, bowling, boating and spending time with family and friends. Marjorie was also a huge fan of Elvis. She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in New Hampton.

Marjorie is survived by two daughters: Julie (Randy) Lee of Waverly and Susan Lange and her fiance Denny Logan of Primghar; two sons: Dennis (Diana) Freese of Basset and Tom Freese of Charles City; six grandchildren: Nicole Law, Krystal Law, Chelsea Lang, Dylan Freese, Sterling Freese, Kenzie Lee; eight sisters: Arlene (Roy) Peterson of Oregon, Darlene McGaren of Waterloo, Betty (Wayne) McGaren of Waterloo, Shirley Sweitzer of New Hampton, Joan (Tim) Wood of Waverly, Connie (Chuck) Speicher of Lawler, Marilyn (Marvin) Njus of New Hampton and Diane (Steve) Olson of Charles City; six brothers: Glen (Lucille) Randall of Dike, Kenneth (Ruth) Randall of Waterloo, Larry (Irma) Randall of Winthrop, Bob Randall of New Hampton, Junior (Snookie) Randall of Waverly and Duane Randall of New Hampton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul Freese on Dec. 22, 1975 and a sister, Lois Randall.

Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home of New Hampton is in charge of arrangements.
