NASHUA, IOWA - Eugene C. Conley, 86, of Nashua, passed away Sunday evening, August 31, 2003, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 6, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Nashua, with burial in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery at Lourdes, Iowa. Visitation will be at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua from 4-7 p.m. Friday and from 9-9:45 a.m. Saturday. There will be a 4 p.m. Rosary and a 7 p.m. Scripture Service at the funeral home Friday.

He is survived by: one niece, Irma Wilson of Burlington; two nephews: Jim Schneider of Prior Lake, Minn., and Jim Conley of Clinton Township, Mich.; four great-nephews and two great-nieces.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Edward, James and John Conley; three sisters: Anna Mae Conley, Loretta Borchardt and Irene Schneider; two nephews: Robert Borchardt and Charles Schneider; a niece: Becky Lybbert; one great niece: Becky Royal; and a great nephew, Andy Semelhack.

Eugene C. Conley was born July 16, 1917, at Loudres, Iowa, the son of John and Catherine (Fogarty) Conley. He moved to Nashua with the family and graduated from Nashua High School in 1935. He moved to a farm north of Nashua in 1937 and farmed and lived there until becoming a resident at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in January of 1998. Eugene enjoyed playing "500" and reminiscing with old friends. He also was actively involved with the Big 4 Fair for many years.
