NASHUA, IOWA - Lavonne E. Head, 71, of Nashua, passed away Wednesday morning, September 17, 2003, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, following a long illness.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2003, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City, Iowa, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery at Nashua. Visitation will be today, Friday, September 19, 2003, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be directed to the family where a memorial fund is being established.

Lavonne was born August 23, 1932 in Charles City, the daughter of Eldo and Rena (Kalke) Kamin. Lavonne attended Riverton #9 Country School and graduated from Charles City High School in 1950. She was united in marriage to L. Leroy Head at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charles City September 8, 1978. Lavonne was a homemaker and farmer. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Busy Belles, Riverton Homemakers and Women's Federated.

Lavonne did ceramics, was a great cook, loved antiques, traveling, wintering in Arizona and riding with Leroy in parades with their Model A.

She is survived by her husband, Leroy of Nashua; one son, Brett Plautz and friend, Liz Powell of Oran, Mo.; two sisters: Norma (Marian "Jack") Kamm and Verla (Robert) Heller, all of Charles City.

Lavonne was preceded in death by her parents.

Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Homes in Nashua is in charge of the arrangements.
