Gayle Clammer, 86, of Charles City, Iowa, died July 28, 2003, at Floyd County Memorial Hospital of natural causes.

There will be no funeral or graveside services. She will be cremated and buried at a later date at Riverside Cemetery next to her husband, Corliss.

Gayle was born in Forest City, Iowa, to John and Blanche (Arnold) Souls, May 26, 1917. Gayle and Corliss Clammer were married October 17, 1942 in Albert Lea, Minn. when Corliss was home on furlough from the military. She moved to California to live with her sister and she worked as a telephone operator in Santa Monica. After the war, Corliss and Gayle came to Charles City and she worked for Bea's Shop for 10 years.

She is survived by two sons, Steve Clammer of Ft. Worth, Texas and Mark (Janet) Clammer of Flagstaff, Arizona; 3 sisters, Ann of Charles City, Mildred of Nebraska and L. Maxine of California; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Pett of Waterloo and Wilma Clammer of Charles City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Corliss; and two brothers.

Memorials can be sent to Steve Clammer, 8917 W. Hwy 199, Springtown, Texas 76082.

Hauser Funeral Home is in charge of cremation and burial arrangements.
