HORICON, WIS. - Larry O. Hereid, 59, of Horicon, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital surrounded by his family.
A memorial service celebrating Larry's life will be held Saturday, July 19, at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Rev. Mark Hasty will officiate. A memorial gather will be held from noon until service time at the church. The Murray Community Funeral Home in Horicon is serving the family.
Larry O. Hereid was born June 11, 1944, in Charles City, the son of Orland and Virginia (Blunt) Hereid. On Aug. 26, 1964, he married Carol Staley. Larry was a 1962 graduate of the Charles City High School and a 1967 graduate of Wartburg College. He and his wife Carol moved to Horicon, Wis., in 1968. For 27 years, Larry was a business education teacher and served as the Student Council Advisor at Horicon High School. In addition, he coached tennis and golf and was an assistant football coach. Larry dedicated his entire professional life to horicon High School and the students of the Horicon community. He, more times than anyone can count, had a life-long impact on students, student-athletes, and student council members. Larry was an avid sports fan and loved the Minnesota Vikings. He also loved to read, use his computer and spend time with family and friends. Larry will be sadly missed but will live in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
Living family members include his wife, Carol of Horicon; a daughter, Kristin Hereid of Horicon; a son, Gregg (Jenny) Hereid of Beaver Dam, Wis.; his mother, Virginia L. Hereid of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Dixie (Dwight) Hildebrandt of Omaha, Neb.; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Audrey and Bill Gies of Riceville; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Orland "Gumpie" Hereid.
