Keith Van Horn, 72, a resident of 1200 Gilbert Street, Charles City, died Monday, July 21, 2003, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

Funeral services for Keith Van Horn will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. The Rev. Michael Carey will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City. There will be a flag presentation by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until service time on Thursday.

Keith Warren Van Horn was born July 13, 1931, in Butler County, the son of Ben and Lola (Woodley) Van Horn. He graduated from the Charles City High School in 1949 and attended Iowa State University. Keith served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On December 30, 1963, he was united in marriage to Helen Scofield. Keith was a design engineer for Oliver/White Farm for 25 years at the Charles City plant. He was then transferred to Coldwater, Ohio, where he continued his engineering career for White Farm under the ownership of Allied Products Corporation. Later he was transferred to Independence, Mo., where he was employed as an engineer at AGCO the successor owner of White Farm retiring in June of 1994 and returning to Charles City. He also owned Keith's Trailer Sales for almost twenty years. Keith was a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge. His pastime activities included camping, playing cards, working with the computer, and having coffee with his friends at the Uptown. He looked forward to spending time with his family and took special interest in his grandchildren.

Living family members include his wife, Helen of Charles City; eight children, Jolene (Russ) Godbey of Charles City, John (Denise) Scofield of Denver, Col., Gary (Zen) Van Horn of O'Fallen, Ill., Joy (Tom) Brown of Mason City, Marty (Kim) Van Horn of Fremont, Neb., Janan (Bob) Berstler of Solon, Jayne (Chuck) Hall of Nevada, and Lori (Paul) Wood of Clear Lake; 21 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; brother, Dean (Ruby) Van Horn of Minneapolis, Minn., and sister, Carol Hartman of Vancouver, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Lloyd Van Horn, and a sister Marlys Leaman.
