Carol Hutchins, 96, a former resident of 402 Kelly Street, Charles City, died Sunday, July 20, 2003, at the Salsbury Baptist Home in Charles City.

Funeral services for Carol Hutchins will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2003, at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 27, in Hillgrove Cemetery, Colfax, Wis. The Rev. Bruce Ursin will officiate.

The family will greet friends at the funeral home an hour prior to the service.

Carol Geneieve Mathews Hutchins was born July 3, 1907, on the farm near Colfax, Wis., where five generations of Mathews had lived, the daughter of William and Hallie (Lamson) Mathews. She graduated from the Colfax High School, attended the River Falls Teachers College, and taught first grade. On August 8, 1927, she was united in marriage to Lee Hutchins at Winona, Minn. Lee died in 1987. For thirty-five years Carol enjoyed creating and giving as gifts needlepoint tapestries.

Living family members include her daughter, Fay (Rennie) Allen of Flagstaff, Ariz.; a daughter-in-law, LuAnn Wandro Hutchins of Charles City; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lucille Rognli of Louisville, Ken.

Her parents, husband, a son, David Hutchins, a daughter-in-law, Judy Hutchins, a son-in-law, Roger Cunningham, a sister, and a brother preceded her in death.

Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City is in charge of arrangements.
