OAK GROVE, MO. - Michael R. Howe, 51, of Oak Grove, Mo., died March 11, 2003, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.

Mr. Howe was born September 11, 1951 in Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, to Robert and Marcella Hofler Howe.

He was a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Iowa. Mr. Howe was the lead clinic social worker for the mental health department for the Kansas City VA Medical Center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2003, at St. Judes Catholic Church in Oak Grove, Mo. with father Pete Savage as celebrant. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

He was a member of the St. Judes Catholic Church in Oak Grove, Mo. and the Oak Grove Chapter of the Knights of Columbus. Michael was a great story teller and very involved and active in the Democrat party. He enjoyed spending time with his children and his family as they were the most important part of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Val, of the home; sons, Jason and Brian Howe of Blue Springs, Mo.; mother, Marcella Howe, of Nora Springs; brother, Jerry Howe of Iowa City; sister, Colleen Howe and her husband Jose Pulido of Brookfield, Wis.; sister, Maureen "Mo" Howe of Iowa City and grandson Clint Howe of Grain Valley, Mo.; niece Christine and nephews Chad and Jose.

He was preceded in death by his father Robert Howe in 1983, his grandparents, and an infant brother.

Webb-Freer Funeral Home in Blue Springs, Mo. is in charge of arrangements.
