MARBLE ROCK, IOWA - Memorial services for Faith E. Allen, 93, formerly of Friendship Acres, Marble Rock, will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at Reid's Funeral Chapel in Marble Rock with Pastor Patricia Shaw of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiating. Inurnment will be in the Hillside Cemetery at Marble Rock.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m.today, Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at the Chapel.
Faith E. Koebrick was born November 19, 1909 in rural Greene a daughter of Carl and Anna (Paske) Koebrick and died Saturday, March 1, 2003, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
She received her education in the Greene Public Schools graduating in 1926. On September 22, 1927 she was united in marriage to Albert Allen at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Greene. To this union were born three children. They farmed west of Marble Rock until 1953 when they moved to a farm near Nashua.
For a short time they lived in Nashua before returning to Marble Rock where they farmed on the Ewald place. Following their retirement they moved to Friendship Acres in 1974. They enjoyed spending their winters in Texas where they enjoyed picking grapefruits off the trees at their son's orchard. Mr. Allen died November 16, 1976. In 1980 she moved to Charles City where she maintained her apartment until entering the nursing home.
Faith will be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother who excelled in the kitchen as a cook who made everything from scratch. Her homemade noodles were a special treat. She was an avid gardner, and one who enjoyed reading and keeping up with current events. She enjoyed working the crossword puzzles and writing poetry. Some of her poems were published in the Des Moines Register Donald Kaul's Over the Coffee.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marble Rock and a charter member of the Marble Rock Jolly Seniors.
Living family members include two sons: John (Doris) Allen of Eden, Texas, Charles (Sue) Allen of Rockford; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and a son-in-law: Louis Bonie of Reno, Nev.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, parents, a daughter: Joan Bonie, two half sisters: Dorothy Carlson and Tess Weires, three sisters: Frances Pattschull, Leone Poppe and Pat Dodson, and one brother: Leon Koebrick.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Faith Allen Memorial Fund in care of the family.
Reid's Funeral Chapel in Marble Rock is in charge of arrangements.
