LACROSSE, WIS. - Marvin Varnell Bremer, age 87, of La Crosse, Wisconsin, died on Friday November 29, 2002, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse, Wis.

He was born April 5, 1915, in Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, to Henry and Lydia (Fritcher) Bremer. He attended local schools, graduating from high school as valedictorian in 1933. He then became associate manager of Lanz Food Market in Charles City. He married Pauline Drewelow on July 6, 1937, at Crown Point, Ind. Marvin and Pauline celebrated their 65th anniversary with family and neighbors in their home July 6, 2002.

Marvin moved the family to La Crosse, and worked in the tool and die department for 30 years at the Trane Co. before his retirement in 1985.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline; son. Dennis of La crosse, Wis.; daughters, Patricia (Bernard) Frazier of Sparta, Wis., and Nancy (John) Witt of Spillville; grandchildren, Jackie (Larry) Stanley of Fenton, Mo., Mark (Robin) Frazier of Grand Marais, Minn., Brenda Frana of Lawler, Randy Witt of Guttenberg, Richard (Debbie) Witt of Cresco, Angie (Marti) Leiren of Frankville and Andrew and Alaina Bremer, both of La Crosse Wis.; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

His parents; a sister, Marie; and brother Clarence, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at 10:30 a.m., at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. The Rev. Roger Hjelle officiated and burial was at 11 a.m. on Tuesday Dec. 3, 2002, at Boyd Cemetery near New Hampton.

Memorials were given to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
