Joanne (Cockrum) Cross Shaw, 73, a Clark County, Wash. resident for over 38 years, and formerly of Charles City, died Tuesday, December 24, 2002 of cancer in Battle Ground, Washington.

Mrs. Shaw was born on June 29, 1929 in Osage, Iowa. Her maiden name was Cockrum. Mrs. Shaw and her first husband, Cecil C. Cross, also from Charles City, lived in the Charles City area for many years until re-locating to California and Washington State.

Mrs. Shaw worked for Jim Sorenson Insurance in Vancouver, and Pacific Wood Treating in Ridgefield. She enjoyed traveling, reading, dancing, and playing cards. She will be remembered for her upbeat personality, sense of humor, and enjoyment of family and friends.

Mrs. Shaw was preceded in death by her first husband Cecil C. Cross, in 1968, and her second husband Clifford Shaw in 1989. Survivors include her daughter Brenda Carrasco of Brush Prairie, Wash. and two sons, Bruce Cross of Battle Ground, Wash. and Brad Cross of Longview, Wash. and six grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and many friends.

A celebration of life memorial service was held Saturday, December 28, 2002 at Layne's Funeral Home in Battle Ground, at 2 pm. Davie's Cremation and Burial Services handled cremation.
