RUDD - Adam Weigel, 72, of Rudd, died Friday (Nov. 29, 2002) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

His funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Monsignor Stanley Hayek, pastor of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, will officiate. The Charles City Ceremonial Unit will present the flag at the service. Burial will be at a later date at St. Theodore's Catholic Church in Albert Lea, Minn.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.

Adam Joseph Weigel was born Nov. 14, 1930, in Albert Lea, Minn., to Christopher and Julia (Leanhart) Weigel. He received his education at St. Mary's Catholic School in Albert Lea. Adam entered the United States Army in 1947. He served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1951.

On Nov. 15, 1952, he was united in marriage to Beverly Johnson. In 1972, they moved to Iowa, settling in Rudd in 1981. Adam retired from North Iowa Plastering in 1992.

Those left to cherish his memory include this three sons; Lawrence and wife, Barbara, Weigel of Austin, Minn., Toby Weigel and special friend, Trisha Hanson, of Rudd, and Randy and wife, Kelly, Weigel of Mason City; his four daughters, Rebecca and husband, Gary Jacobsma, of Hayward, Minn., Margie and husband, Charlie Shindlear, of Colwell, Mary Lou Weigel of Rudd, and Debra and husband, Jeri "Rick," Martin of Charles City; 18 grandchildren, Josh Weigel, Rachel Weigel, Jennifer Bonfy, Linda and husband, Ryan Martens, Bobbi Jacobsma, Adam Momberg, Cassey Shindelar, Nathan Shindelar, Becky and husband, Tom Walker Jr., Pamela Weigel, Anna Eggers, Chris Martin, Michelle Martin, Zac Bendickson, Christian Rasmusson, Devin Weigel, Dalton Weigel and Andrew Weigel; nine great-grandchildren, Jessica and Colton Bonfy, Alexis, Chris and Jackson Martin, Isaih, Tianna, Tyrell Weigel, and A.J. Momberg; three brothers, Paul, Francis and Dominic Weigel; two sisters, Catherine Callahan and Marie Pick; and several nieces, nephews and friends, including "honorary son" Craig Feuring, and by his beloved dog, Pebbles.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bev, in August 1999; his parents; four brothers, Johnny, Jay, Sylvester and Nickademus Weigel; and three sisters, Edith and Ernestine Weigel and Anna Ludwig.

Adam Weigel, 72, a resident of 403 4th Street, Rudd, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at Muse Norris Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services for Adam Weigel will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Monsignor Stanley Hayek, pastor of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2002, at St. Theodore's Cemetery, Albert Lea, Minn. The Charles City Ceremonial Unit will present the flag at the service.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.

Adam Joseph Weigel was born Nov. 14, 1930, at Albert Lea, Minn., the son of Christ and Julia (Leanhart) Weigel. He received his education at St. Mary's Catholic School in Albert Lea. Adam served in the United States Army from 1947 to 1951.

On Nov. 15, 1952, he was united in marriage to Beverly Johnson. He had worked at Wilson's Meat Packing Plant and then for North Iowa Plastering where he retired in 1992. Adam was a member of St. Theodore's Catholic Church in Albert Lea, Minn., and the V.F.W. He enjoyed bird watching, camping, and spending time with his family and dog, Pebbles.

Living family members include three sons, Lawrence Weigel and wife Barbara of Austin, Minn.; Toby Weigel and special friend Trisha Hanson of Rudd, and Randy Weigel and wife Kelly of Mason City; four daughters, Rebecca Jacobsma and husband Gary of Hayward, Minn., Margie Shindelar and husband Charlie of Colwell, Mary Lou Weigel of Rudd; and Debra Martin and husband Jerl "Rick" Martin of Charles City; 18 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three brothers, Paul "Swede" Weigel of Albert Lea, Minn., Francis "Shorty" Weigel and wife Helen of Ariz., and Dominic Weigel of Black Duck, Minn.; two sisters, Catherine Callahan of Browerville, Minn., and Marie Pick of Waldorf, Minn.; and his beloved dog, Pebbles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers, and three sisters.
