ROCKFORD, IOWA - Richard C. Uker, 62, of 206 2nd Ave. S.W., Rockford, died Tuesday (Sept. 17, 2002) at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Rockford, with the Rev. Tom Heeley of Hospice officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Rockford with full military rites.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Fullerton Schumburg Funeral Home, 302 West Main St., Rockford. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time on Saturday at the church.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Richard C. Uker Memorial Fund.

Richard Christian Uker, 62, of 206 2nd Ave. S.W., Rockford, Iowa, died Tuesday Sept. 17, 2002, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday Sept. 21, 2002, at the United Methodist Church in Rockford. The Rev. Tom Heeley of Hospice will be officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Rockford with full military rites.

Richard was born March 3, 1940, in rural Cerro Gordo County, the son of Roger and Dora (Paulsen) Uker. Richard graduated from Rockford in 1958. Richard joined the Army on Sept. 26, 1961, in Des Moines, serving in Vietnam, and received an honorable discharge on Sept. 1, 1964. in FT Hamilton, N.Y.

In 1996, Richard was united in marriage to Linda White at the Zion Lutheran Church in Rockford. Richard lived in the Rockford area his entire life while working for Salsbury Laboratory in Charles City in the Waste Treatment Department. Richard was a member of the Rockford Saddle Club. Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, and building things. Richard loved telling stories to family and friends, and driving around looking at wildlife. Richard will be missed dearly by family and friends.

Richard is survived by his mother, Dora; his wife, Linda, of Rockford; three children; Ryan and his wife, Charlet, of Rockford, Roger and his wife, Michelle, of Rockford, and Shawn and his wife, Jackie, of Nora Springs; 5 step-children, Brian Brandau and his wife, Teresa, of Mason City, Lori Walczyk and her husband, John, of Bondurant, Jeff Haley and his wife, Kim, of Manly, Jesi Peterson and her fiance, Travis Holste, of Mason City, Jodi Peterson, of Iowa City; 10 grandchildren, Shane, Caylor, Chelcie, Christian, Cody, Casey, Josh, Alex, Cody, Colton; grandpa Dick to, Tristan, Sierra, Betsy.

He is preceded in death by his father, Roger; one sister, Mary Lackore; one step-son, Charlie Brandau.
