Luella C Burnett, 94, of Rudd, Iowa, died Wednesday (July 17,2002) at the Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs, Floyd county, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, 611 6th St. in Rudd, with the Rev. Lisa Locoh and the Rev. Cecil Lackore officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Rudd.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at the Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 North Hawkeye St., Nora Springs and one hour before the service at the church. There will be a prayer service at the funeral home at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The Family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Rudd United Methodist Church.

Luella C. Kling was born in Rock Grove Township in Floyd County on March 30, 1908 to Louis and Anna (Brandau) Kling. She was baptized on May 10, 1908 at the German Zion ME Church.

She attended Rock Grove and Rudd Township schools and graduated from the Rudd High School in 1925. Luella attended Iowa State Teachers College for one year and then started teaching at the Rudd Township School District #7 in 1926. On June 16, 1929 Luella married Grandon Burnett at the Rudd United Methodist Church parsonage.Also in 1929 she started teaching in School District #5 and was there until 1933 at which time she became a Homemaker.

Luella has been a member of the Rudd United Methodist Church since August 30, 1925 and was active in the United Methodist Women, Dorcas Circle, and taught Sunday school for 27 years. She also belonged to the Rudd Culture Club, Royal Neighbors of America, Rudd Senior Citizens (Jolly Rudd'rs), and the Woman's Society. Luella was very proud of the Issac Walton State Award she received for a windbreak she had planted.

Luella is survived by three sons: L. Boyd Burnett and his wife Louise of Rudd, Duane Burnett and his wife Shirley of Rudd, and Rodney L. Burnett and his wife Marge of Ankeny, seven grandchildren: Dan Burnett and his wife Becky, Carolyn Ewen and her husband Don, Alan Burnett and his wife Amy, Jeanie Burnett, Brad Burnett and his wife Darcy, Julie Liggett and her husband Steve, and Sara Kobe and her husband Jack, Twelve great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Grandon in 1965, two brothers: Herman Kling and Alvin Kling, and a sister Katie Apel.
