ROCKFORD, IOWA - Dale R. "Choppy" Sadler, 81, of 212 W. Main, Ave., Rockford, died Wednesday (Jan. 21, 2009) at the Nora Springs Care Center, Nora Springs, after a battle with cancer.
According to his wishes no services will be held. He was cremated at Cremation Services of North Iowa and his remains will be spread at a later date.
Dale Russel was born in the home of his parents John and Florence (Frost) Sadler on June 24, 1927, in Rockford. He attended school in Rockford and then entered the Army on Sept. 14, 1950, serving his country in Alaska. He then transferred to the Army Reserve and served until his honorable discharge on April 15, 1957.
Dale returned to Rockford and was employed at the Rockford Brick and Tile and then worked for the Oliver Corporation in Charles City until his retirement.
Choppy was a huge Chicago Cubs fan. He worked around Rockford for many people being a handyman and working in yards. He always appreciated anyone stopping to say hello or spending time with him.
Dale is survived by his brother, Loren, and his wife, Marilyn Sadler, Clear Lake; his niece Terri (Bob) Franzen; nephews, Steven and Douglas (Jennifer) Sadler all of Charles City, Scott Sadler, of Clear Lake; several great-nieces and nephews and special friends Darrell Hayungs, Glenn Biggs and Gloria Grady. He was very grateful to the Rockford Community who were so supportive of him throughout the years.
His parents, John and Florence; and brothers, Earl and Eldon preceded him in death.
