RUDD - Audrey Mae Gorzynski, 84, of 703 Sixth St. in Rudd, died Monday (Jan. 5, 2009) at the Nora Springs Care Center.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2009, at the Rudd United Methodist Church, 611 Sixth St. in Rudd, with Pastor Wendy Johannesen and Pastor Jim Turner officiating. An inurnment will take place at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Audrey S. Gorzynski Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 202, Rudd, IA 50471.

Audrey was born on March 5, 1924, the daughter of Berl and Grace (Wagner) Stalker in Rudd. She graduated from Rudd High School in 1942, then attended Hamilton Business College and later received her bachelor's degree from a college in California. She worked for the military in Florida and Utah where she met her future husband, Henry, and married him on Nov. 25, 1945.

Audrey spent most of the her life in California, where she was an accountant for the Los Angeles school systems, retiring in 1986. She and Hank then moved back to Rudd in 2003, and they spent their winter months in Arizona.

Audrey enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing bridge, shopping for bargains and sewing. She also loved to talk on the phone, travel, entertain and read. She was very involved in her children and grandchildren's lives, and also the Rudd United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Henry, of Rudd; her daughter, Beryl A. DiAngelo, of Cypress, Texas; her son, Thomas L. Gorzynski, of Rudd; her grandchildren, Dustin Boyd Gorzynski, of Spokane, Wash., Dandy Noel Gorzynski, of Los Angeles, Calif., Anthony Enrico DiAngelo, of Prinevale, Ore., and Marissa Hebert, of Houston, Texas; her brother, Ed (Donna) Stalker, of Minneapolis, Minn.; sister, Donna (Dom) Grasso, of Olathe, Kansas; sister-in-law, Veronica Stalker, of Clive; and her special nieces, Brenda Krause, of Rudd, and Bonnie (Harland) Derr, of Rudd, and many other beloved nieces and nephews.

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Steven, Lyle, Rodney and Charles; sister, Norma; brother-in-law, Jim Krause; sister-in-law, Maxine Stalker; daughter-in-law, Robin Gorzynski; and grandson, Chad Adam Gorzynski.
