RUDD, IOWA - Henry G. "Hank" Gorzynski, 85, 703 Sixth St., died Monday (April 13, 2009) at the Nora Springs Care Center, Nora Springs.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday April 18, 2009, at the Rudd United Methodist Church, 611 Sixth St. Rudd, with the Rev. Jim Turner officiating. Burial will be in the Rudd Evergreen Cemetery, Rudd, with full military honors conducted by members of the American Legion H.D.S. Post 449.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Rudd United Methodist Church.

Henry G. Gorzynski was born April 14, 1923, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of John and Mary (Filas) Gorzynski. He graduated from Lane Tech High School, the University of Northern Iowa, and received his master's degree of industrial arts from Ball State. He was united in marriage to Audrey Stalker on November 25, 1945; to this union two children were born.

Hank worked for North American Aviation, Ronson Aeronautics Divison, Honeywell International in Los Angeles area, as a design engineer and instructor. Hank designed the Pneumatic Union Valve for the Apollo space flights. He enlisted into the United States Army on September 2, 1942, and was honorably discharged on January 16, 1946.

Hank enjoyed golfing, bowling, painting, photography, playing bridge and was an avid sports fan. He was a member of the Rudd United Methodist Church, American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Standards Engineering Association, where he served as the president for two years, and was a past Shriner member.

Hank is survived by his children; his daughter, Beryl A. DiAngelo, of Carmichael, Calif.; his son, Thomas L. Gorzynski, of Rudd; grandchildren, Dustin Boyd Gorzynski, of Spokane, Washington, Dandy Noel Gorzynski, of Los Angeles, California, Anthony Enrico DiAngelo, of Prinevale, Oregon, and Marissa Hebert, of Houston, Texas; sister, Cecilia (Arthur) Boruta, of Niles Illinois, sisters-in law, Alvina Gordon, of Chicago, Illinois, Donna (Dom) Grasso, of Olathe, Kansas, Veronica Stalker, of Des Moines, brothers-in-law, Ed (Donna) Stalker, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, along with several beloved nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Gorzynski, wife Audrey (Stalker) Gorzynski; grandson, Chad A. Gorzynski; and brother, Edward Gorzynski.
