CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Memorial services for Jack R. Lyman, 71, of Kingwood, Texas, a former long time resident of Charles City, will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, Kingwood, Texas. Burial will be at a later date in Ottumwa, Iowa. Jack Lyman died on Monday, December 29, 1997, following a long illness.

Jack Lyman was born on February 16, 1926, in Ottumwa Iowa.

He graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1944 and immediately joined the U.S. Navy serving in World War II until honorably discharged in 1946.

Jack was a member of BPOE Elks Lodge #418 in Charles City and had a passion for golf as a member of the Charles City Country Club and Cedar Bend Golf.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, of Kingwood, Texas; two sons, Michael and his wife, Christi, of Mason City; and Timothy and his wife, Beth, of Kingwood, Texas; one brother, Gaylord and his wife, Beverly, of Delores, Colo.; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and one sister.

The family requests memorials be sent to the American Diabetes Association.
