Clarence “Lefty” Meyer, 91, of Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, died on Thursday, October 7, 2004, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, October 11, 2004 at the First Congregational Church, with burial at Riverside Cemetery, Charles City. Pastor Phil Corr will officiate.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City, on Sunday from 5 to 7 P.M. Visitation will continue at the church an hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa, Floyd County Community Nursing, and/or First Congregational Church.

Clarence William Meyer was born May 23, 1913, in Charles City, the son of Otto and Elizabeth (Deist) Meyer. He was raised in the area and graduated from Colwell High School in 1931.

He was united in marriage to Pauline Zimmer on February 7, 1937, in Charles City. He worked as a machinist with Oliver/White Farm for 40 years, retiring in 1974.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapshooting and gardening. Lefty was a member of the First Congregational Church. He was former past president of the Oliver Athletic Association, and a coach of the Salsbury Softball Team.

Living relatives include his sons, DeWayne Meyer and wife Darlene, of Charles City, and Roger Meyer, of Davenport; three grandchildren: Denise Lampman and husband Alan, Dawn Bray and husband Greg, and Dan Meyer and wife Diane; and three great grandchildren: Morgan and Kirby Meyer and Kelsey Lampman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pauline; son, Richard; and four brothers: Harold, Lloyd, Bob, and Melvin.
