Joyce Sigler, age 87, of Floyd, Floyd county, Iowa, died on Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Joyce Wilhelmena Meyer was born May 21, 1919, in Floyd County, the daughter of Henry and Clara (Weber) Meyer. She attended Floyd Consolidated School while growing up on a farm north of Floyd.

On August 12, 1936, she was united in marriage to Lavern Sigler at Charles City. They farmed near Floyd all of the lives. She was a stay at home mom which was a full time job as she had many hobbies and other interests.

Joyce was an excellent seamstress, cake decorator, enjoyed making craft items, loved both vegetable and flower gardening and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Basketball fan. She was a member of the Floyd Grace United Methodist Church, Rachel Circle, Farm Bureau Women for many years, past president of the Floyd Band Boosters and former member of the Charles City Women’s Club. Her greatest joy, however, was being with her family and friends, especially the grandsons and great grandchildren.

Living family members include two daughters, Caryl (Bill) Tjaden of Denver and Melodee (J.D.) Miller of Charles City; six grandsons, Kevin (Monica) Tjaden, Kent (Koby) Tjaden, Mark (Brenda) Tjaden, Brett (Jennifer) Tjaden, Dean White and Aaron (Nichole) White; 14 great grandchildren; and several nieces and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lavern “Buck” Sigler on January 6, 2007; a grandson, Kurt Leach; and a sister, Betty Thomas.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the charity of choice.
