Dorothy Marie Nehls was born July 21, 1912, in Floyd County, the daughter of Arthur and Anna (Reis) Nehls. She was raised and educated in the area and attended Roseville Catholic School. She was united in marriage to Forest Wright on March 29, 1932, in Charles City, and the couple made their hope in the area throughout their lives.

Dorothy was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Rosary Society Guild, and St. Mary’s Circle. Dorothy enjoyed watching sports on TV, and spending time outdoors and flowers. She especially loved fishing and will be remembered as a wonderful cook.

Living family members include her daughters, Pat Winterink of Charles City, and Paulette Wright of Alta Vista; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Clair Nehls, Charles City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister; and two brothers
