Margaret L. Rohweder, 80, of Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, died on Monday, December 11, 2006, at the Colonial Manor in Elma, Howard county, Iowa.

Graveside services for Margaret Rohweder will be held at 11:30 A.M. Friday at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery, 7601 34th Avenue South, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Pastor Donald Stier of Saint Paul Lutheran Church at Hinckley, Minnesota will officiate.

Margaret Louise Rohweder was born February 11, 1926, the daughter of James and Beulah (Allee) Newkirk at Jefferson City, Missouri. She attended high school at California, Missouri.

On March 18, 1944, she was united in marriage to Ralph Rohweder in Missouri. Ralph and Margaret remained married until his death in March of 1975.

Margaret was employed at Marudas Red Owl in Hinckley, Minn. from 1964 to 1971, Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Missouri, from 1971 to 1977 and at Federal Hoffman, in Anoka from 1977 until retirement in 1987. After retirement she enjoyed working at the Hallmark Store in California, Missouri. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Hinckley, Minnesota. Her interests included dancing, flowers, socializing with friends and especially spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Living family members include three daughters, Bonnie Jendro of Camdenton, Missouri, Jo (Brad) Schmidt of Hinckley, Minnesota, and Janice (Greg) Streich of Charles City; and a son, Andy Rohweder and fiancée Lauren Chartier of Ocala, Florida; 10 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; five sisters, Wilma Cornine of Nelson, Missouri, Norma Howlett of Oak Grove, Missouri, Joan Blankenship of California, Missouri, Katie Cooprider of Davenport, and Sue Nutt of Sedalia, Missouri; and one brother, Jim Newkirk of Florence, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph; a granddaughter, Kacie Streich; one sister, Shirley Volkart; and one brother, Charles Newkirk.
