Belma Stonecypher, 97, of Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, died Thursday, March 22, 2007, at the Liebe Care Center in Greene, Iowa.

Belma Beatrice Quinby Stonecypher was born March 11, 1910, at Floyd, the daughter of Roy and Bessie (Welch) Quinby. She received her education at Floyd.

On February 12, 1930, she was united in marriage to William Stonecypher. Following their marriage they farmed and raised their family northwest of Floyd. William died on July 23, 1986. Belma was a faithful member of the Grace United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, and held offices in the Rebecca Circle and United Methodist Women.

She was also a 4-H leader, officer in the Farm Bureau Women’s Committee and a member of the Floyd 60 plus club. Belma enjoyed embroidery, crocheting and quilting. She and Bill were great ones to come to the aid of a friend, neighbor or relative if they had some tragedy or special need. Following retirement Bill and Belma spent part of many winters in “the south country”.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Anita Marie Stonecypher; three brothers, Laurence, Kenneth and Keith Quinby; and a sister, Eunice Shankland.
